As an Associate Field Service Technician at Fairbanks Morse, you will utilize your strong knowledge of diesel technologies to work independently and across a larger team to provide customer satisfaction through performance, safety, and integrity. You also would have the unique experience of working with the Navy, including the potential to travel to military based locations.

Within this position, you will take full ownership of engine maintenance activities, including:
  • Installing, repairing, overhauling, or commissioning of diesel engines on marine vessels or at customer sites
  • Working with minimal direct supervision for daily operations and adhering to company safety, technical, and administrative guidelines
  • Performing shop operations including general machining, part inspections, assembly, and sub-component repair
  • Being responsive to customer needs and act as an ambassador of customer satisfaction striving to provide all customers a "first time fix" for their equipment
  • Completing on-the-job training (OJT) on at least one engine product line and supporting systems within your first year
  • Attending annual safety training requirements as outlined on regional safety schedule


What are we looking for?
  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 2+ years of experience within the US Military or with a direct competitor in a similar role servicing giant diesel engines or a completed ASDT (Associate of Applied Science Diesel Technology)
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the time on short notice domestically and internationally (including weekends/evenings/holidays)
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and own basic set of hand tools
  • Ability to lift at least 35 pounds frequently


What would make you stand out?
  • Completed Bachelor's Degree
  • Basic foundation of pneumatic, PLC and electronic engine controls
  • Experience with Fairbanks Morse engines through your Military service, namely with the US Navy or Coast Guard


This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of US Citizenship is a US Passport, US Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate.
