Rubber Fab is the leader in sanitary seals, hoses and validation products for the food, beverage, dairy, and pharmaceutical industries. We carry specialized products such as Detectomer, Smart Gasket and Tuf-Steel. Rubber Fab is looking for an Applications Engineer to join their team in Sparta, NJ.
General Nature of the Job:
Performs engineering work relative to product applications, improvement and development. Provides specialized technical services to sales personnel as well as customers to insure proper design and appropriate sealing recommendations based on specific application requirements.
Essential Functions:

  • Provides advice and technical information to customers and sales personnel in matters pertaining to applications. Assists customers as required for satisfactory product performance. Visits customers' facilities as required.
  • Represents the Company in technical and professional societies and submits technical papers detailing product performance and technical concepts.
  • Keeps abreast of new product developments and applications for use in industries served.
  • Performs technical training of sales personnel, distribution and end-users.
  • Analyze field samples and report back to initiator with formalized reports.
  • May generate requests to internal and external laboratories for analysis of sample materials for the field.
  • Carries out special projects as required.
  • Reviews and analyzes new product ideas based on problem description and market need to develop feasible options that meet overall business objectives.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of technical information on the Rubber Fab website.
  • Learn the sanitary business and the industries served by the company, both from a technical aspect as well as the commercial side
  • Aid in the development and application usage of new products and how they fit into the markets served

  • Product Line Specific Responsibilities
  • Active participant in all aspects of new product development: concept to commercialization.
  • May perform contract review including customer drawings in light of product line capabilities.
  • Create drawings of both new and current products as needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Technical Sales Manager

    Required Skills
  • AAS Technology degree with related experience or other desired.
  • Experience in applications engineering and engineering procedures a plus.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
