Job Description
Demonstrated proficiency in welding techniques in at least one of the following: mig, tig, arc.
Perform assigned welding functions using a variety of welding procedures and techniques in the heavy machinery manufacturing environment of (large) engine manufacturing.
Efficient use of arc and gas welding and cutting equipment.
Experience with welding stand, bench or positioning equipment is a plus.
Knowledge and/or experience with jigs and fixtures, dividers, calipers, trammel points, straight edge, square, blocks, micrometers and tape, cleco hammer, hammer, wire brush, grinder and chisel is preferred.
Knowledge and ability to use / wear related protective clothing and equipment is required.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, various welding procedure specifications (WPS), engineering specs, sketches and process documents is essential.
Knowledge and experience working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials is preferred.


Required Skills
Plans, lays out and assembles work with or without the use of jigs or fixtures as required. Welds in all positions. Selects the tools and equipment required for the job. Performs welding operations such as set-up and assemble
details, cut, trim, grind and fit parts, tack weld, weld, solder, flame cut and anneal. Selects the filler metal and variables required and perform standard welding procedures to control expansion, shrinkage and distortion. Reads and interprets all types
of welding drawings. Determines size and type of weld when such information is not furnished. Performs both set-up and weld com­ plete on job as directed. Operates magnaflux unit as required
and marks obvious defects for repair, questionable indications shall be interpreted by the Quality Control Department. Instructs lesser skilled welders as required. May perform other related duties as directed, works to tolerances of 1/64".
Required Experience
2-5 years welding experience is required.
1-2 years work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
