Job Description
The Process Engineer provides technical expertise and support to operations, assuring new and existing manufacturing processes meet or exceed safety, quality, and cost requirements. They develop and implement state of the art processes for future growth and work with facility teams to drive change and improvements. The engineer utilizes lean manufacturing principles, six sigma problem solving techniques and provides leadership to ensure compliance with the Quality Policy and industry standards, such as ISO 9001:2015. They conduct quality audits, track and analyze data and ensure implementation of corrective/preventive action.

● Develop, implement, maintain and improve robust manufacturing processes. Resolve difficult problems systematically with effective solutions. Follow company defined new product development process (akin to APQP) to provide new processes in support of new product release(s).

  • Leadership: Manage multiple projects, being responsible for new process development, improvement and cost savings initiatives. Justify and implement capital investment projects. Lead production teams through improvement events / projects.
  • Technical: Exhibits the ability to learn and troubleshoot manufacturing machines and processes with sound mechanical aptitude. Understands machine controls to the extent one can debug and improve machine function. Can implement sound error proofing methods following FMEA thinking.
  • Quality: Develop measurement systems and ensure the effectiveness of the systems. Develop and maintain associated documents tied to QMS. Conduct statistical analysis of data and communicate results. Monitor and track key quality indices and initiate preventive programs or corrective action, as required, achieving performance that approaches six sigma level.
  • Engineering: Develop capable tooling and processes to meet design requirements. Develop processes and systems that comply with QMS requirements. Adapt and learn new processes as required.
  • Teamwork: Assist cross-functional teams to identify and verify quality requirements and take corrective/preventative actions as necessary.
    Required Skills
    ● Communicates effectively (written and verbal) to interface with customers (production personnel) and suppliers.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 / TS 16949 requirements, Internal auditing experience a plus.
  • Must facilitate and promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques to drive effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action (e.g. FMEA, 8D, etc.).
  • Capable to perform measurements and inspections using hand-held gages like Vernier calipers, micrometer, height gauge, Optical comparator, profilometer, and other custom-designed inspection equipment.
  • Knowledge of raw materials and design development (process design) is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, and lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Far Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more. Near Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less. Depth Perception: ability to judge distance and space relationships. Accommodation: ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus. Color Vision: ability to distinguish and identify different colors.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk/hear.
  • Ability to travel as needed. Typical travel requirements are in the range of 10-20%.
  • PPE Required: Ear protection, eye protection, and safety shoes while on the shop-floor.
    Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of Process / Manufacturing Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Engineering / Quality tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, Control Plans, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA.
  • Hands-on experience in project management including familiarity with project planning (e.g. Gantt charts).
  • Must possess experience in mechanical design (parts or tooling), strength analysis, and experience with 3D modeling software, preferably SOLIDWORKS.
  • Possesses experience with machine controls (PLC) and can develop, challenge, and improve machine logic flow as well as specify sensing methods.
  • Experience with machining processes is desirable (e.g. grinding, turning, milling, CNC, G-Code).
